Alibi

Meet Alibi!  Alibi is a beautiful 1.5 y/o neutered male Weimaraner with a big heart and a big desire to be active! He is being rehomed regrettably and not due to anything he has done. Alibi weighs about 70lbs, is microchipped and vaccinated.

We asked Alibi’s owner to write a paragraph about him that we could include in his bio. The love he has for Alibi was evident in our conversations, but even more so in his “paragraph” below.

From Alibi’s Owner …

Looking for a partner in crime? Meet Alibi - the evidence of his clever capers is usually clear, but his charming personality makes it impossible to hold anything against him for long!

About a year ago, Alibi joined our family and has been bringing endless entertainment and adventure to our lives with his spirited Weimaraner personality. While we've grown to love this beautiful purebred boy and his boundless enthusiasm for life, we're looking to find him the perfect forever home where his energy and intelligence can truly shine.

Alibi is the epitome of a clever, adventurous spirit wrapped in a graceful silver-grey package. True to his breed, he's highly intelligent and has mastered an impressive array of commands including "gentle" for careful treat-taking, "close" for moderate recall, "over" for position changes, "zoom" for playful running, and many more. We're particularly proud of his reliable recall - he'll even break off a squirrel chase when called!

This energetic boy is a problem-solver extraordinaire, though sometimes his solutions might not align with human preferences! Left unsupervised, he's been known to use chairs as stepping stones to tables, master the art of garbage can liberation, and perfect his counter-surfing technique. However, when properly supervised, he's responsive and well-behaved.

Alibi thrives on mental and physical stimulation. He excels with puzzle toys, scattered meals for foraging, and food-dispensing toys like Kongs. He makes quick use of the typical dog toys, but filled bones are a favorite and last more than a few minutes. His curious nature shows in his habit of investigating everything with his wet nose, bouncing enthusiastically from discovery to discovery. While he loves a good game of fetch, he typically loses interest after a few throws, preferring to move on to new adventures. He's a natural car enthusiast and will gleefully leap into any vehicle with or without invitation!

This social butterfly gets along well with other dogs, though his endless energy can sometimes wear out his playmates. While he's proven safe around our cat under supervision, he'll need continued monitoring around smaller pets. He's excellent with people and absolutely loves meeting new friends.

Alibi is fully crate trained and sleeps peacefully in his kennel at night, but he's not a fan of daytime isolation and will vocalize his displeasure. Around the house, he's generally quiet unless there's something worth announcing.

The ideal home for Alibi would be with an active, experienced dog owner who can provide consistent supervision and plenty of mental and physical exercise. A secure yard and careful management of doors and gates will be essential.

Alibi is a unique blend of intelligence, adventure, and sweetness, just waiting for the right family to channel his enthusiasm and cherish his loving nature.

From OWR:

Alibi has been with people of all ages. He is generally gentle with children but during play he quickly gets to be too much; he will run, jump, bump and play around them. Therefore, children in the home should be age 12 or older.

When matched with a dog who wants to play like he does, both dogs have a great time!  A home with such a dog companion would be a plus.

Alibi would make an excellent running or hiking partner and would no doubt excel at agility and scent work.  He wants to please and enjoys any activity with his person.

Alibi does not mind having his teeth brushed and is good about getting his nails trimmed (he lays on his back). He is a good boy!
